Requirements
To earn this Junior Badge complete 6 of the following requirements.
Review Safety-Wise pages 95-96 before starting this badge. An adult currently certified as an instructor by the National Archery Association or equivalent certification or documented experience indicating knowledge and skill in teaching/supervising archery must be present while completing this badge.
1. Show that you understand the safety zones at an archery range.
2. Know and follow the archery range whistle commands.
3. Demonstrate how to judge good bows and arrows and know the names of their parts.
4. Demonstrate stringing and un-stringing a bow or know three methods of stringing a bow.
5. What does “weight” mean as applied to bows?
6. Show how to care for a bow when in use and how to store them properly.
7. Serve a string and show how to set it on a bow with the timber hitch.
8. Demonstrate the correct way of pulling an arrow from the target, and picking it up from the ground.
9. Demonstrate the correct stance used for shooting
10. Be able to shoot a round at a target at a distance of 20 feet.
11. Learn three archery terms: Anchor point Arrowhead Arrow-rest Bow Square Butt Cast Crest Cock feather Draw Handle Head Holding Kisser button Knocking point Point blank Point of aim Recurve bow Release Shaft Shooting line Stance Torque Trajectory Quiver vane
12. Be able to describe three types of bows.
