Digital Artist Badge (STEAM)

1. Learn about digital art and it's place in our society. Where can we

see digital artwork in use today?

2. Explore a career that uses digital art, such as graphic designer,

animator, or illustrators. What type of education would you need?

More fun: Interview a digital artist in your area. Find our about her

work process, the tools she uses, and the education she received for her

career.

3. Compare and Contrast traditional artwork, such as painting, to its digital

counterpart. What is similar about the process, how does it differ? How can

you use what you know about traditional artwork to help you create digital

artwork?

4. Find out about the tools needed to produce digital artwork. What benefits

does one have over the other?

5. Research different Software Programs you can use to produce Digital Artwork.

Some programs are good for photo manipulation and editing, while others are

great for drawing and creating vector graphics and even 3D images. Try out 2-3

of them. Which do you like better?

Look online for video tutorials for using layers, shading and lighting, or anything

7. Share your Work!

Create a digital scrapbook or online gallery and share your work you have

created with your art skills and technology. Or Print your artwork and give as a

gift.

Once I have completed this badge I will understand the artistry as well as the

technology used in creating many advertisements and products we see today. I will

also be able to create my own digital artwork and pieces to share with others.
