1. Host a tea party and set it up similar to the Mad Hatters
2. Create a cosplay of some of the characters with your troop or some friends. Hold a costume contest on which is the best.
3. After Alice drinks the potion, she shrinks to a very small size. Imagine you were made small. How would you live? Make a house for yourself to live in.
4. Choose a few of the fantasy characters and do some research to find out what kind of animal they are most similar to in real life.
5. Host a croquet game for some friends and use different kinds of objects to hit the ball with to see what it would be like to play with the Queen of Hearts.
6. Do some research on many of the different versions of the story. What is different in all of them? What stays the same? Why might the authors want them to change? How many different versions are there? Which was the original? Discuss your findings with your friends or troop.
7. Get together with a group of friends and make a hat out of random materials that you can find in your backyard and around the house. When finished, analyze your work. Is it fashionable? Is it wearable? Trade with your friends and analyze theirs. Compare everyone’s. What are some differences? Are they the same? Different? Why? Have a hat fashion show. Design a runway that could fit into the story.
8. Gather as many versions of Alice in Wonderland movies that you can find (animated, graphic, non-animated, etc..) and get together with some friends and watch them. Which was your favorite? Why are some versions more appealing than others? Which ones were the most realistic? Why? Discuss these questions with your group.
9. There are many conspiracies in the story. Research a few and compare them. Are any of these possible? Or are they stretching the truth of the story? Why might these have been created? Etc…
10. Read the original story. Think about all the aspects of the book and its characters. Think about what you would do if you were a character. Would you be able to survive Wonderland? Who would you be friends with? Would you follow the instructions of the other characters? Etc… Discuss with your friends your opinion and choices and compare. How does this reflect the personalities or you and your friends?
11. In some versions of the story, Alice is sent to a mental institution. Do some research on why she would be and what kind of mental illnesses would she have.
