Requirements:
To earn the Try-It you must complete at least four activities. Chicago, Illinois is the third largest city in the United States with a population of over 2.8 million people. Chicago is a city that is rich with history, culture, sports, entertainment and education. It is a great place to visit and an awesome place to live.
1. Help plan and take a trip to Chicago, Illinois. To get started, read “Your First Adventures” in the Brownie Handbook (pages 102-103). Make a list of what you would like to do on your trip.
2. Make a list of safety rules that you need to follow when you take a trip.
3. Draw a picture of the Chicago Flag. Discover the meaning of what each stripe and star represents. Find out if your city has its own flag.
4. Chicago is home to the Sears Tower, the tallest building in the U.S. Draw a picture of a famous building in your town.
5. Chicago is famous for making the best pizza. Learn how to make a pizza and share this with your troop or family.
6. Chicago is home to the White Sox, Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, Wolves, Rush and Fire. Try a new sport and practice the skills you have learned.
7. Juliette Low visited Chicago with her family. Find out about her visit and her connection to the city.
8. Chicago is called the “City of Neighborhoods”. Take a walk in your neighborhood with your troop and find out what makes your neighborhood unique.
9. There are many types of public transportation in Chicago. Try a different type of transportation with your troop or family. 10. Create a travel journal about a trip to Chicago.
